You will have four full hours in to which take the CHST Examination. The pass or fail grading system will be utilized for the examination and is correlated to the type of test that is administered. It is important to recall that there are differing versions of the CHST Examination that can be offered and the rotation is set-up in a manner that makes tracking and following almost impossible. The best method to prepare for the CHST Examination is to attend the CHST Workshop that will be given in certain locations by Scott Boim.

Prerequisites Before Sitting for CHST Examination

The following precertification requirements must be met before being allowed to register and take the CHST Examination. Please be advised that these are not to be taken lightly and if you have not passed the threshold of each requirement then now is the time to take immediate action to rectify that lack of education or experience!  
  • High School Diploma
  • Qualified as an OSHA Authorized Instructor
  • If the Above Requirement for OSHA Certification has not been met there are Alternative Methods in which you can Satisfy this Important Pre-Requisite.
  • 40 Hours of Classroom Training in the Field of Construction Safety and Health
  •  3 Years of Experience in a Construction Position in the Field.
  • Associates Degree or Higher Academic Degree in the Safety and Health Industry
  • 3 Years Construction Related Experience in the Field of Occupations Worker Safety and Worksite Safety
  • 9 Semester Hours or 14 Quarter Hours of Accredited College Credit in Construction Health and Safety
  • 3 Years of Work Experience or 1 Year of Work Experience in Combination with at the very Least an Associates Degree (AS) (AA) in Safety and Health for the Construction Related Service Sector
  • Pass the CHST Examination (Recall Pass or Fail Timed Examination)
  • Complete 5 Year Certification Maintenance Requirements and Pay the Annually Occurring Renewal Service Fee
Not a Trick Examination

The CHST Examination is not designed to trick you or attempt to not have you pass.
